Kuala Lumpur: The World Cup fever is being felt by everyone around the world, and the Rio Olympic women’s singles gold medalist Carolina Marin of Spain was no exception.

Carolina Marin who is also an ambassador for La Liga, has arrived in Malaysia to get ready for next week’s Malaysia Open. She took some time off from training on Friday to promote Spain’s men’s professional football league in Malaysia. “La Liga is the most recognizable league in the world and I am delighted to represent the Spanish soccer league in this beautiful country,” said Marin,

Marin, who won the 2014 and 2015 World Championships title, was confident that La Liga would create a positive impact for the sport of football in Malaysia.

“I really appreciate the opportunity for me to promote those core values of La Liga such as team spirit, leadership, responsibility and respect,” added Marin.

“Malaysian is famous for its passionate football fans, making it the perfect market for La Liga. We are excited to welcome this brand in a country where its people live and breathe with football.”

The 24-year-old Spaniard also told reporters that she is looking forward to a strong showing at the World Championship that will be held in China next month.
