Copenhagen: One of the most successful women’s doubles pair in badminton history – Christinna Pedersen & Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark have announced their retirement from international badminton, calling time on an extremely successful career with the Denmark national team.
The Olympic silver medalists and All England champions, posted the following message on their social media page on Monday.
“All good things come to an end. This is it.
Badminton has for both of us been everything since we were children and we dreamed about making a difference in the sport. If you ask us, we think we succeeded.
Now it’s time for both of us to say thank you to Badminton Denmark and the national center. Christinna have had her last training at the center and this weeks tournament will be the last one together with Mathias.
Kamilla have been away from the training since the pregnancy and now it’s an official goodbye to the national team.
It has in some way been a very difficult decision but on the other hand it feels so right to do this now.
It’s not a 100% goodbye to Badminton, but it’s a goodbye to the national team and to the world tour. We will still have Badminton close to us and both of us will play in the Danish Badminton league next year. We love our sport and we are open for new opportunities in the future.
We will like to say thank you to our understanding families, our double partners, coaches, sponsors and of course all our supporters form all over the world. You have all made this journey fantastic!
A special thanks to Kenneth Jonassen, without you we couldn’t achieve that we did.
Kamilla and Christinna❤️”
During their career as a pair, they have won five Superseries titles together, one BWF Super 500 title (2018 Malaysia Masters, one BWF Super 1000 title (2018 All England), and four European Championships women’s doubles titles. They’ve also won the Rio Olympic silver medals.
