Penang: The Penang-born Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei who hung up his racket about two weeks ago, was the final torchbearer at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Carnival in Penang on Sunday night after a 12-day of exhilarating sporting competition.
The ceremony reached its climax after Lee received the torch from 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist Chan Peng Soon who was born in George Town, Penang. Lee walked around the track at the Esplanade stadium receiving huge cheers from the crowd before stepping onto the stage to lit the cauldron.

The Olympic flame was then extinguished at the end of the ceremony as the Penang Olympic Carnival which was held from June 12 to 23 came to a close in spectacular fashion.
