Lingshui: The men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles players from China national badminton team gathered at the Lingshui Haihang Track and Field Stadium to kick off their daily training with a 4000-meter long run on Wednesday.
The training was aimed at strengthening the physical fitness and the mental toughness of the Chinese badminton players. It also helped to prepare these athletes for the 2021 National Games of China preliminaries to be held in Zhengzhou in early April.
Currently, the China national badminton team has trained in Lingshui for nearing 5 months. All players will return to their respective provincial teams to compete in the preliminaries of the 2021 National Games of China.
The official 14th National Games of the People’s Republic of China will be held in Shaanxi Province from September 15 to September 27, 2021. It is the highest level and largest comprehensive sports meeting in China. It is being held every four years, generally one year after the end of the Olympic Games.
In 2017, China’s sports governing body rolled out an unprecedented reform as it invited Chinese who have obtained foreign citizenship, foreign decedents of Chinese immigrants, and Chinese citizens who were residing abroad to apply for participation in the Chinese National Games. Of course, the Games organizers would set up a special committee to check the eligibility of the applicants.
