Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s World No. 7 mixed doubles pair, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying are determined to win gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which is scheduled to kick off on Friday, July 23.

A statement issued by their sponsor, Yobick, said that both Chan and Goh would try their best to make Malaysia proud at Tokyo Games.

“Winning gold in Olympics would be the proudest moment of my badminton career, and I would like to thank the fans who have supported us and who put their trust in us,” said Goh.

Yobick has been one of Chan and Goh’s major sponsors since 2019.

Meanwhile, Chan said they would go all out in all matches. The Olympic badminton event will be held at the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza located in Chōfu, Tokyo.

“We hope to end Malaysia’s gold medal drought. I also feel grateful for the strong support from my family. After all, I have missed out on many family times because I need to focus on the Tokyo Olympics,” said Chan.

Chan/Goh have been drawn in Group D alongside World No. 2 Wang Yilyu/Huang Dongping of China; World No. 13 Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong and World No. 15 Mark Lamsfuss/Isabel Herttrich from Germany.
