Kento Momota Wins 2021 Indonesia Masters – His First BWF World Tour Title in 1 Year And 10 Months

Bali: World No. 1 men’s singles player – Kento Momota won his first title of the season at the 2021 Indonesia Masters, ending a 1 year and 10 months title drought with 21-17, 21-11 over World No. 3 Anders Antonsen of Denmark at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, Bali, on Sunday.

Momota admitted that the journey to winning the Indonesia Masters was not easy because he had to go through a lot of hard-fought matches in the last two months.

“Actually I am very tired but I’m happy to play well and win,” Momota said after the match.

“Antonsen played also played very well today,” Momota added.

After the match, Momota said he would rest after undergoing a very tight match and training schedule to prepare for the 2021 Indonesia Masters and the 2021 Indonesia Open which will start next Tuesday, Nov 23.

“I want to sleep all day tomorrow. I’m very tired,” said Momota jokingly.

The World No. 1 also posted message below on his social media page after the match.

“I was able to win
It was painful. It was really painful.
However, thanks to the people around me, I managed to do my best.
I’m really grateful …
I’ll take a break and do my best again next week! !!

Sunday’s victory gave Momota the prize money of US$42,000, while Antonsen received US$20,400.

In men’s doubles, Indonesia’s top seeds Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon lost a three-game battle against Japan’s unseeded Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi in the 2021 Indonesia Masters final 11-21, 21-17, 19-21.

That was the first victory from Hoki/Kobayashi over Sukamuljo/Gideon as the Indonesian pair had won their 10 previous meetings.
