Dubai: Malaysia’s Cheah Liek Hou recorded his 10th consecutive international titles after winning the Fazza Dubai Para-Badminton International in Dubai on Sunday.
The World No. 2 Cheah who won the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games gold medal in the men’s singles, SU5 category, defeated World No. 5 Taiyo Imai 21-11, 21-19 to clinch the title.
Cheah’s winning streak began back in 2019 when he won the para-badminton competitions in Denmark and Japan, followed by Peru and Brazil (2020), The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Spain (2021), the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic gold (2021), Brazil and Bahrain (2022), and now, the Fazza Dubai Para-Badminton International.
In addition to men’s singles, Cheah also partnered with Muhammad Fareez Anuar to beat Suryo Nugroho/Oddie Kurnia Dwi Listiant Putra of Indonesia 17-21, 21-15, 21-9 for the men’s doubles title.
