Orleans: Malaysia’s World No. 26 mixed doubles pair – Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei claimed a strong 21-14, 21-15 victory over the 2023 China Masters and Swiss Open champions – Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin of China in the Orleans Masters quarter-finals on Friday.
Chen/Toh will play World No. 14 Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati of Indonesia in the semi-finals.
Earlier Friday, another Malaysian mixed pair Chan Peng Soon/Cheah Yee See, however, went down fighting against Adnan Maulana/Nita Violina Marwah of Indonesia. Maulana/Violina will battle Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin of Taiwan for a place in the final.
In men’s singles, Malaysia’s Leong Jun Hao was defeated by Magnus Johannesen of Denmark by losing 19-21, 16-21 in 51 minutes. Johannesen will next meet Lei Lan Xi of China while Priyanshu Rajawat of India will face Nhat Nguyen of Ireland in another men’s singles semi-finals.
In the women’s singles semi-finals, No. 1 seed Carolina Marin from Spain will meet Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt of Denmark whom she defeated in the first round of the 2023 Madrid Spain Masters last Wednesday while Zhang Beiwen of USA will face off against Yvonne Li of Germany in the bottom half of the draw.
