Orleans: Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei of Malaysia defeated World No. 14 Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati of Indonesia with a score of 21-10, 21-16 in the 2023 Orleans Masters mixed doubles semi-finals. Chen/Toh showed great skill and athleticism throughout the match, dominating the game with Chen’s powerful smashes and Toh’s precise net shots.

Chen/Toh opened the first game with a 10-4 lead, although Kusharjanto/Kusumawati once narrowed the score to 8-11, the World No. 26 pair held their nerves to take the first game in 14 minutes.

After trailing by 13-16 in the second game, the Malaysians reeled off 8 consecutive points to win the second game in 20 minutes. They will play World No. 25 Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin of Taiwan in the final.

In men’s singles, Denmark’s World No. 49 Magnus Johannesen from Denmark was playing with speed and strong smashes from the backcourt when he edged past World No. 92 Lei Lan Xi of China 10-21, 21-15, 21-19. He will square off against World No. 58 Priyanshu Rajawat of India for the BWF World Tour Super 300 title.

Carolina Marin and Zhang Bei Wen are set to battle in a blockbuster women’s singles showdown when both overcame their respective opponents on Saturday.

Marin defeated Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt 21-11, 21-13 while Zhang saw off Yvonne Li of Germany 21-12, 21-19 in the semi-finals.
