NEW DELHI: Defending India Open champion Lee Chong Wei produced one of his finest performances to win the men's singles title for the second consecutive year with a straight-game victory over familiar foe Chen Long of China on Sunday.
He beat China's Chen Long 21-13, 21-17.
Chong Wei dedicated his India Open victory to his son Kingston Lee, who will turn 1 year old on April 12.
"I dedicate this win to my son who will be turning one next week. My next tournament will be the Singapore open, I hope I can win the Singapore Open title as well," an elated Chong Wei told reporters.
The 2014 OUE Singapore Open will be held from April 8-13, 2014.
Asked if he will play in next year's India Open, Lee said: "If I'll remain injury free this year, and then I might come back for India Open. Thanks to fans. However, I will come back to India for this year's Thomas Cup."
Speaking about the match against Chen Long, Lee said: "I was more precise with my strokes and made better judgments on court. I think Chen Long didn't play as well as I've expected, he made few mistakes that cost him the game." Lee Chong Wei had won the All England and Malaysia Open early this year.
