Glasgow: No tears, no drama, no contest. Malaysia got off to a good start in the one-sided opening game of mixed team event by defeating Barbados 5-0.
Chan Peng Soon and Lai Pei Jing scored the first point for Malaysia in 21 minutes; then Chong Wei Feng whitewashed Dakeil Thorpe of Barbados with 21-6, 21-7; Tee Jing Yi wrapped up her match against Mariama Eastmond with 21-8, 21-3 in just 18 minutes; 
men’s doubles Tan Wee Kiong-Goh V Shem proved to be too strong for Dakeil Thorpe-Adndre Padmore by winning the fourth point for Malaysia 21-6, 21-8; Woon Khe Wei- Vivian Hoo clinched the final point for Malaysia in a comfortable fashion with 21-8, 21-7 in 18 minutes. Malaysia will play its second Group A match against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
Another mixed team event favorite – India, swept Ghana 5-0 in their opening game, and knocked off Uganda with another 5-0 in the second group tie that was held later that day. India will play Kenya on Friday.
England also eased past North Ireland 5-0 in its first Group F tie.
