Kuala Lumpur: Facing heavy criticism by media, players and government officials, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) announced Monday that they have reversed their decision to remove national singles chief coach Rashid Sidek from the World Championships squad.
The highly respected coach Rashid Sidek was also surprised by BAM’s decision.
“I was informed by BAM’s Competitions Chairman Dr Koay Ban Hing on Monday that BAM decided to send me to Copenhagen. I am happy to be able to join the World Championships squad, and I am looking forward to help our players to get better and I am ready to contribute fully to our team’s success at Copenhagen,” said Rashid.
With Rashid Sidek and two other men’s singles coach – Tey Seu Bock and Hendrawan as the men’s singles coaching staff in Copenhagen, we hope Lee Chong Wei could finally fulfill his dream of becoming a world champion.
