Beijing: After their Thomas Cup heartbreak in May, China’s badminton coach Li Yongbo would like to carry the positives from the loss into their Asian Games matches. Li Yongbo talking to the media

“Quality of badminton events in Asian Games are equivalent to Olympics, mainly because most of the top badminton players are from Asia,” said Li.

Despite winning three gold medals from the recently concluded World Championships, Li Yongbo was very concerned about physical fatigue for shuttlers who just came back from that tournament at Copenhagen.

“The Asian Games could be very physically demanding, especially for those who competed in the World Championships two weeks ago. Our shuttlers have to compete in the team events first, and then in the individual events. It’s going to be challenging for some of our senior players to have their fitness level evenly distributed throughout the tournament,” added Li Yongbo.

At the press conference, Li also announced the final list of Chinese badminton team rosters for the Asian Games:

Men’s team:
Chen Long, Lin Dan, Tian Houwei, Gao Huan, Liu Xiaolong, Qiu Zihan, Cai Yun, Fu Haifeng, Xu Chen, Zhang Nang

Women’s team:
Li Xuerui, Wang Shixian, Wang Yihan, Liu Xin, Ma Jin, Wang Xiaoli, Bao Yixin, Ma Jin, Tian Qing, Zhao Yunlei
