Kuala Lumpur: Technical director of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Morten Frost Hansen admitted Rashid Sidek and Rosman Razak have decided to not renew their contracts after receiving better offers from a badminton club.
According to other sources, Rashid Sidek and Rosman Razak will be joining Cheras Badminton Club. That badminton club which was spearheaded by former All England champion Muhammad Hafiz Hashim, finished sixth in the Kopiko Purple League during the 2014-2015 season.
“We have negotiated with those coaches, but could not reach an agreement. It’s nobody’s fault, it is just that we were not able to meet what they were asking,” said Morten Frost in a press conference at the Malaysia Open Premier Super Series at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Tuesday.
Frost has selected former national shuttler Lim Pek Siah to take over Rosman Razak’s position, but there was no immediate replacement for Rashid.
“She (Pek Siah) is actually an experienced coach; she has experience in Japan as well as some international exposure. She is very keen and happy to be given a chance. We have enough coaches for men’s singles department for now, Tey Seu Bock, He Guo Quan and Hendrawan will work together to coach that department,” added Morten Frost.
“We would like to wish both coaches all the best and good luck to them, they have done a great job over the years and we’re very thankful for they service.”
Despite the departure of Rashid and Rosman, BAM had extended the contracts of all 22 BAM coaches with a new salary review as well as key performance index (KPI), including the three coaches who have contracts till next year, namely Tan Kim Her, Hendarawan and He Guoquan.
