Kuala Lumpur: In the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on Thursday, Lee Chong Wei has dropped to 17th spot, while reigning Olympic women’s singles champion Li Xuerui has retaken the top spot from Saina Nehwal.
After winning the Malaysia Open last week, Chen Long of China continued to top the men’s singles list with 88,961 points followed by Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark 75,893 points. Lin Dan of China was ranked third with 75,530 points, and Kidambi Srikanth was at fourth place.
In women’s singles, Saina Nehwal who recently became the first Indian to rank world No. 1 women’s singles player has dropped to world no. 2, while Carolina Marin of Spain was ranked third and Wang Shixian was ranked fourth.
Korean’s Lee Yong-Dae/Yoo Yeon-Seong remained as the number one men’s singles pair in the world, followed by Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen of Denmark, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan of Indonesia and Lee Sheng Mu/Tsai Chia Hsin of Taiwan.
Malaysia’s women’s doubles pair Vivian Hoo/Woon Khe Wei have moved up to world No. 14, while another women’s doubles Amelia Alicia Anscelly/Soong Fie Cho also climbed up one spot to 22nd.
Wong Fai Yin/Chow Mei Kuan and Tan Aik Quan/Lai Pei Jing of Malaysia were ranked 45th and 46th in the mixed doubles rankings respectively, and the newly reunited Malaysian mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying were ranked 91st.
