Lee Chong Wei to spearhead Malaysia’s Sudirman Cup team in Dongguan

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia Sudirman Cup team is getting excited with the addition of Lee Chong Wei after his suspension officially ended on April 30, 2015. Lee went back to train with the Malaysia team on Friday. In fact, he was one of the earliest players who showed up to attend the Sudirman Cup training session at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara.Lee Chong Wei returns to train with the Malaysian team on May 1st. “It is nice to have Chong Wei back with us, he is now the full-time member of the team,” said the technical director of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).


Lee Chong Wei was appointed as the captain for the Malaysia team.

“We needed a world class player to become a good leader and role model for other players, and Chong Wei is that player,” said Frost.

“His presence really motivates other players to give additional commitments and to train harder,” added Frost.

Malaysia has been drawn in Group 1D together with three-time winner, South Korea, and India. The team will leave for China on Wednesday.

Men’s singles:
Lee Chong Wei,  Cheam June Wei (reserve player)

Women’s singles:
Tee Jing Yi, Lim Yin Fun (reserve player)

Men’s doubles:
Tan Wee Kiong, Goh V Shem, Mak Hee Chun (reserve player)

Women’s doubles:
Vivian Hoo, Woon Khe Wei, Amelia Anscelly (reserve player)

Mixed doubles:
Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying, Wong Fai Yin/Chow Mei Kuan
