Chong Wei Feng delivers victory for Kepong BC in Resorts World Genting Champions Challenge

Chong Wei Feng took 40 minutes to dispel all doubts, rallied from two-set deficit to beat former international and co-owner of Petaling Jaya BC Krishnan Yogendran 5-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-5 to lift Kepong BC over Petaling Jaya BC with a 12-11 victory.

The veteran from Hong Kong, Wei Nan gave Kepong BC a strong start in the first men’s singles match, winning 11-7, 10-11, 11-7, 11-4 against Malaysia’s junior men’s singles player R. Satheishtharan in 33 minutes.

Malaysia’s No. 1 women’s singles player, Tee Jing Yee of Kepong BC then fought past resilient Yang Li Lian 3-2 to widen Kepong’s lead with 6-3.

It was Thailand’s mixed doubles pair, Prajaktha Sawant/Songphong Anugritayawon of Petaling Jaya BC who dashed off Kepong BC’s scratch pair Mei Qi Li/Ong Jian Guo 9-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-10, 11-3 to narrow the overall score to 6-8.

Next up, Petaling Jaya BC’s men’s doubles pair, Or Chin Chung/Tang Chun Man stormed past Low Juan Shen/Tai An Khang of Kepong BC 11-7, 7-11, 11-4, 11-6 to level the tie before Chong Wei Feng won the decisive fifth match.

The win saw Kepong BC advanced to the semifinals of Resorts World Genting Champions Challenge together with Purple League regular season champions Muar BC, Ampang Jaya BC and Puchong BC.

Kepong BC who are the Champions Challenge defending champion will clash with Puchong United BC while Ampang Jaya BC will battle Muar BC in the semifinals.

Earlier Wednesday, Puchong United BC defeated Petaling BC 12-8 in another Resorts World Genting Champions Challenge quarter-final tie.
