Goh Jin Wei wins ‘2015 Best Young Athlete’ award

Kuala Lumpur: Goh Jin Wei, the 2015 world junior champion was selected as winner of the SAM-100Plus Best Young Athlete Award 2015.

In addition to the world junior title, she also won the women’s singles gold medal at the ASEAN Schools Games in Brunei and the bronze medal at the SEA Games in Singapore in 2015.

The Bukit Mertajam-born player also pocketed €1,700 (RM7, 538) after she emerged victoriously in the Orleans International Challenge Badminton Tournament in Paris last Sunday.

In addition to Goh Jin Wei, Malaysia badminton superstar Lee Chong Wei was also among the five athletes shortlisted for the 2015 SAM-100PLUS Athlete of the Year award.

Lee Chong Wei was shortlisted due to his remarkable return from an 8-month suspension by winning 3 consecutive titles including French, China and Hong Kong Open at the end of 2015 and did well to reach the final of last year’s World Championship in Jakarta.
