In the last Group B fixture of Dubai World Superseries Finals, the Indian shuttler managed to avenge her recent loss to Marin in Olympics finals four months ago by knocking out the Spaniard 21-17, 21-13 in 46 minutes.

Sindhu is set to take on Sung Ji Hyun of Korea in the semifinal on Saturday. Top seed Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei will clash with Sun Yu of China in other women’s singles semifinal.

Earlier in the day, China’s Sun Yu went through unbeaten into the semifinal after rallying from a game down to beat the pint-sized Japanese Akane Yamaguchi 15-21, 21-10, 21-10 in 62 minutes.

The women’s doubles semi-finals on Saturday will showcase another Olympics final rematch where No. 1 seed and Olympic gold medalists Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi of Japan will face off against No. 2 seeds and Olympic silver medalists Kamilla Rytter Juhl/Christinna Pedersen of Denmark. Chang Ye Na/Lee So Hee of Korea will battle Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan of China for a spot in the women’s doubles final.

Chen Qingchen will then partner Zheng Siwei to play against Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen of Denmark in the mixed doubles semi-final, while Indonesian pair Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto will meet husband and wife pair Chris Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock of England in other mixed doubles semi-final.
