Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian superstar Lee Chong Wei has continued his domination on an unchanged top 7 in the latest world badminton rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Thursday.
Lee Chong Wei remained the clear World No. 1 with 72,353 points. World No. 2 Jan Jorgensen of Denmark was 2,359 points behind, while Chen Long was in the third position with total of 64,554 points.
Viktor Axelsen remained the World No. 4, followed by Son Wan Ho, Tian Houwei, and Lin Dan at No. 5, 6, and 7.
Shi Yuqi and Angus Ng Ka Long were the biggest movers in the top 10, except they were moving in different directions. The Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic gold medalist Shi Yuqi soared up 2 places into World No. 8 spot after reaching the final of All England and Swiss Open. Angus Ng Ka Long dropped two position to No. 10, while Chou Tien Chen stayed in No. 9.
The World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei also moved up two places to overtake Jan Jorgensen as the No. 1 ranked player in the Race to Glasgow – BWF World Championships Qualification rankings. Meanwhile, Lin Dan will need to work extra hard to work his way up through the Race to Glasgow list before the World Championships entry closes on July 11, 2017.
