Mülheim: Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jemie Lai saw their German Open campaign come to an end in the quarterfinals after a straight-games defeat.
The fifth seeds went down 17-21, 13-21 in 35 minutes to Singapore–Indonesia combination Terry Hee Yong Kai and Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, missing out on a semi-final berth at the BWF World Tour Super 300 event.
The cross-national pair will now face Denmark’s Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch, who advanced after eliminating Scotland’s Alexander Dunn and Julie Macpherson.
Wong Ling Ching Also Exits
Malaysia’s women’s singles representative Wong Ling Ching also bowed out in the quarterfinals. The 22-year-old fought for 39 minutes before losing 16-21, 13-21 to China’s Han Qian Xi.
Ling Ching started strongly but struggled to maintain momentum as Han gradually asserted control in both games. Han Qian Xi will now meet compatriot Han Yue in the semi-finals.
