Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei has shared a motivational message on social media, encouraging Malaysian athletes as they are about to start competing at the Paris Olympics.

The three-time Olympic silver medalist addressed the athletes in three languages, including Malay, Chinese and English, saying, “Gemuruh jiwa, semangat di dada, Team Malaysia! Serulah semua, Malaysia Boleh! Temasya sukan terbesar dunia kini kembali ! Kepada atlit , tunjukkan yang terbaik, demi lencana di dada! Yang menyokong seperti saya, jangan putus berdoa dan menyokong agar skuad kebaangsaan dapat kembali dengan emas pertama negara. Jangan cemas! Malaysia boleh !
十年磨一剑,代表马来西亚参与奥运的健儿们,是你们发光发亮的时候,尽自己最大的能力,把最好的自己展现出来,全民为你们打气。
好运🍀加油💪🇲🇾
The time has arrived again. 4 years once we shall witness again the greatest sporting event! Together, we roar like tigers, relentless in our pursuit of greatness. All our Malaysian hearts beat as one, and with each stride, each leap, we carry the hopes of a nation to win that elusive gold. This is our time, this is your time , this is your destiny. Go all out and leave nothing in the tank. Come on Team Malaysia ! Show the world the power of our unity and spirit!
Nota sampingan:-
Saya nasihat atlit supaya jangan cemas. Tapi mustahil tak cemas. Semasa saya turun gelanggang semasa Olympic pertama saya, walaupun bertemu Ng Wei dari Hong Kong , bergetar juga tangan I kerana cemas. Peluh tak henti-henti membasahi baju yang dipakai. Fikiran menjadi kusut masai.
Coach nampak I gelisah, dia tahu yang I dah cemas. Dia pon call Team Malaysia punya psychologist atau motivator (tak sure role) mari bagi ketenangan.
Mamat ni pon sampai kat aku. Terus dia pegang tangan aku nk bagi motivational speech
“Jason, jangan cemas. Ini kali pertama kau I tahu. Tapi Jason, teguhkan mental dan emosi. Jangan cemas”.
Aku pandang coach. Coach pandang aku. Kita heran. Sejak bila nama I Jason.
Aku pon tiao “Weh bro. Aku bukan Jason la.”
Mamat tu balas “ I tau. Jason ialah nama saya. Saya pon cemas gak. Ini kali pertama saya jadi psychologist untuk acara begitu besar. So sebelum I motivate u, I motivate i sendiri dulu”.
Terus gelak beruk aku dan coach…
Terus hilang cemas aku.. Maybe itu la cara tersendiri psychologist ini.
Jangan cemas, raih emas, Atlit alit kita !”

He called on Malaysians to continue supporting the national team, hoping for the country’s first Olympic gold medal. Lee Chong Wei, speaking from experience, advised the athletes not to be nervous on this grand stage.

He shared an interesting story about his first participation in the 2004 Athens Olympics, which indirectly helped him manage his nerves and advance to the second round.

Lee also posted a photo of himself in Paris, writing, “Hello, Paris,” indicating his presence in the city.

The 2024 Paris Olympics began on July 26 and will run until August 11. Malaysia has sent 26 athletes and 40 officials and coaches to the event. The country first participated in the Olympics in 1956 in Melbourne and has since won 8 silver and 5 bronze medals, with badminton contributing the most, earning 6 silver and 3 bronze medals.
