Mülheim: The top-seeded men’s doubles pair, Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi of Malaysia, secured a straight-set victory on Friday, advancing to the semifinals at the German Open.

In the quarterfinals of the German Open, Malaysia’s dynamic duo, Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi, triumphed over the 27th-ranked Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han from Chinese Taipei with scores of 21-19 and 21-10.

This marked the ninth encounter between the two pairs, and Malaysia’s men’s doubles extended their head-to-head record to 5 wins and 3 losses. It was their second consecutive straight-set victory against the opponents, following their success at the Malaysia Open earlier this year.

In the semifinals, the world number 12 Ong/Teo will face China’s world number 14 He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu. The Chinese pair, seeded third, fought through three sets, defeating the German 6th seed Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel with scores of 15-21, 22-20, 21-15.

The other semifinal match will feature the second-seeded pair from Chinese Taipei, Lee Jhe-huei and Yang Po-hsuan, against Denmark’s number four seeds Rasmus Kjær/frederik Søgaard. Lee and Yang secured their spot in the semifinals by winning 21-12, 21-17 against the no. 8 seeds Thai pair Supak Jomkoh/Kittinupong Kedren.

Malaysia’s two other mixed doubles pairs were stranded in the quarterfinals. Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing were defeated by the third-seeded Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong 21-13, 13-21, 11-21, while the fourth-seeded Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai lost to the seventh-seeded Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Lisa Ayu Kusumawati of Indonesia 19-21, 26-28.

In the men’s singles semifinals, Zhao Jun Peng will play against Rasmus Gemke, while Jeon Hyeok Jin will take on Christo Popov.
