Mülheim: Malaysia’s World No.12 Men’s doubles pair, Teo Eo Yi and Ong Yew Sin, overcome Denmark’s World No.35 Pair, Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard, in a grueling battle at the Westernergie Sporthalle in Mulheim an der Ruhr.

Highlights of Teo Ee Yi/Ong Yew Sin vs. Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard in 2024 German Open second round:

The match began with Teo/Ong winning the first game with a score of 21-14, but in the second set the Danish came back greatly, and the Malaysians lost 19-21. However, back in the third set, they dominated with a 21-10, securing their spot in the Top 8.

This is the second time Teo/Ong have advanced to a quarterfinals in 2024, the first being the Malaysian Open earlier this month. They will now face taiwan’s Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po han for a chance to move into the semifinals.

Two mixed doubles pairs from Malaysia have also advanced to the quarterfinals.
Tan Kiang Meng and Lai Pei Jing, previously unseeded, managed to overcome the 8th-seeded Rinoov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari of Indonesia in games of 21-17, 21-19. They are now set to face the 3rd seed of Tang CHun Man and Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong.

The other pair of 4th-seeded Goh Soon Huat and Sheyon Jemie Lai were off to a rough start against Terry Hee yong Kai and Jessica Tan Wei of Singapore, but eventually came on top with 8-21, 21-15, 21-8. They are not set to play 7th-seeded Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Lisa Ayu Kusumawati of Indonesia on Friday.

Finally, in the men’s singles, the unseeded Zhao Jun Peng of China stunned the entire tournament by ending the run of top-seeded Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan with scores of 21-14, 21-18. Zhao will now be facing Julien Carraggi of Belgium, who also had his own upset over 5th-seeded Brian Yang of Canada of 16-21, 21-15, 21-14.

We look forward to seeing the rest of the matches!
