A Seven-Year Wait Ends in Glory
Shi Yuqi, the world No. 1 and top seed, had previously won the All England Open in 2018 by defeating his senior, Lin Dan 21-19, 16-21, 21-9 in the final. After battling injuries and setbacks over the years, his resurgence in 2025 has been nothing short of remarkable.

Lee Chia Hao, ranked world No. 22, was the surprise package of the tournament, delivering stunning upsets to reach his first-ever Super 1000 final.

Their only prior meeting came in the 2024 China Masters, where Shi Yuqi won 21-17, 21-16. Once again, the Chinese star proved too strong, despite a valiant effort from the Taiwanese challenger.

How the Final Unfolded
🏸 Game 1:
Lee Chia Hao made an early statement, taking 5-3 and 6-4 leads. However, Shi Yuqi’s composure and tactical play saw him level at 6-6.

From there, Lee started making unforced errors, and Shi used deceptive strokes to take an 11-8 lead at the interval.

After the break, Shi went on an attacking spree, extending the lead to 17-10. Lee attempted a late comeback, narrowing the gap to 15-18, but Shi closed the game 21-17 with sharp net play and a final mistake from Lee.

🏸 Game 2:
Shi started strong with a 5-2 lead, but Lee fought back, leveling at 7-7 and briefly leading 8-7. Shi responded by regaining control at 9-8 and carried an 11-10 lead into the interval.

After the break, Lee’s errors allowed Shi to stretch the advantage to 15-12. However, the Taiwanese player found a second wind, leveling the score at 16-16.

At 19-19, Shi Yuqi dug deep, showing incredible defense and forcing Lee into two critical mistakes. At championship point (20-19), Shi executed a deceptive drop shot, leaving Lee stranded and sealing the title 21-19.
