Chengdu: China’s men’s and women’s national badminton teams are undergoing rigorous training in Chengdu to prepare for the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships that will be held August 21–27 at Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.

China will have a maximum of four men’s singles players in the World championships, after the defending champion Chen Long have received a wildcard from BWF although he failed to make it to the tournament on merit when the qualification period ended on April 27.

According to BWF, they granted Chen Long the wildcard was due to Chen Long’s status as reigning Olympic and World champion.

Three other men’s singles players from China who qualified on merit were Lin Dan, Shi Yuqi and Tian Houwei.
