Jakarta: Susi Susanti – the greatest Indonesian women’s singles badminton player of all time, held high expectation of Hanna Ramadini who according to Susi, Hanna is primed for a breakout as one of the top female shuttler in the world.
With Bellaetrix Manuputty suffered from a left knee injury at the 2015 Sudirman Cup, Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) was hoping young players such as Hanna could step up to the plate, take a bigger part of the Indonesian women’s singles burden.
Susi Susanti suggested Hanna has demonstrated strong capability to rise to the top.
“Hanna needs time to get to the top level. She is a talented player, but she still has a lot of work to do. She needs to work on her power, accuracy, and especially to increase her leg strength,” said Susi.
“Nowadays, women’s singles match exhibit less variation and the given situation on the court is often predictable. Therefore, we should take these opportunities to create competitive advantage for ourselves,” added Susi.
The 1992 Olympic gold medalist also urged the players to not afraid of working hard.
“The players should do not be afraid to receive heavy training from the trainers. They also should have a video recordings, and notes about their opponents’ habits and finding ways to punish these habits,” explained Susi.
Hanna Ramadini will be playing in the BCA Indonesia Open Super Series Premier that starts on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Hanna is expected to breeze through the qualifying round to join another Indonesian female shuttler – Maria Febe Kusumastuti in the main draw.
