Kuala Lumpur: Lee Chong Wei, Viktor Axelsen, Lin Dan and Chen Long have added their names to a star-studded line-up at Malaysia Masters 2018, from Jan 16th to Jan 21st.

Malaysian badminton superstar Lee Chong Wei will begin his Malaysia Masters title hunt against Kenta Nishimoto of Japan, with Rio Olympic champion Chen Long of China, and defending champion Angus Ng Ka Long all lurking in his half.

Two time Olympic champion, Lin Dan of China, who opens against Indonesia’s Ihsan Maulana Mustofa, is in line to meet Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the semi-finals. Son Wan Ho and Chou Tien Chen are also in the same half as Lin Dan.

In women’s competition, World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying has been drawn to face Malaysia’s Soniia Cheah on Wednesday. Tai’s other possible opponents in her half are No. 4 seed Carolina Marin form Spain, No. 8 seed Chen Yufei of China and No. 6 seed Sung Ji Hyun of Korea.

The draw looks a little kinder to No. 2 seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan if she can overcome possible clash with He Bingjiao of China in the quarter-finals. The Japanese player may likely to play No. 5 seed Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the semi-finals.

Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong remains Malaysia’s best hope for the men’s doubles title and they begin against No. 7 seeds Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov of Russia. The Malaysian pair could face last year’s World champions and No. 3 seeds Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan in the last four.
