Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s badminton superstar Lee Chong Wei made his first public appearance since suffering a respiratory illness that forced him to withdraw from both the World Championships that begins tomorrow and the Asian Games that will be held in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang, from 18 August to 2 September,2018.

The appearance was through a video clip of the former World No. 1 men’s singles player apologizing to badminton fans that he couldn’t attend the product launch event for YONEX AX99, and was not able to play at the World Championships in Nanjing.

According to YONEX, the video was shot in the past two days.

Lee also thank his nemesis, Lin Dan, who was volunteering to host the product launch event. Lin Dan also wished Lee Chong Wei to get well quickly.

“His absence from the World Championships and the Asian Games has been a huge blow for these two events. I hope he will recover soon and be able to return to the game as soon as possible,” said Lin Dan.

Malaysian media has reported that the Malaysian badminton superstar is currently undergoing treatment in Taiwan and the whole treatment process could go for as long as two months.

Wishes are pouring in for the badminton legend from all over the world with badminton players and fans showering love to the badminton superstar, who has won 69 titles on the international stage alongside three Olympic silver medals in 2008, 2012 and 2016.
