“β¦ and itβs a wrap! Last working day for the year.π
.
Today marks my 1οΈβ£8οΈβ£ months at BAM & with mixed emotions, πππ it is also my last day as I have accepted an outside opportunity in the new year. π€I feel truly honored to be able to have had my childhood passion in my career, with a scope and impact of work that will touch hundreds of millions of Malaysians favorite sports β badminton. π²πΎ πΈ

For as long as I can remember, BAM has meant a lot to me. βΆοΈ I had started my badminton journey when I was 13 years lo old and was spotted and trained by Akademi Badminton Malaysia at Taman Maluri, Cheras.πΈπΈ I had left home to chase my dreams.ππ β‘οΈ A few years later, I had transferred to KBB, Cheras then Bukit Jalil. β‘οΈ At last, I nested in πBukit Kiara as where is now the Akademi Badminton Malaysia located. ππ»ππ» Throughout my career, I had ranked as the World no.1οΈβ£ in 2002 and won a total of 24 titles, π₯π
twice the bronze medallist π₯at the World Championships in 2001 and 2005 before I retired from BAM in December 2007. ππ¦πͺ

ππ π18 months ago, I drove back to BAM after a 12-year hiatus not knowing what to expect, but excited to be part of the new spirit of BAM tasked with reviving the womenβs doubles department. ππ The road to success is not as easy as we already knew.π₯Ί We would encounter different challenges that will test our patience and will work hard to achieve our goals. π¦πͺππ»ββοΈAs one could imagine, these paths were mostly rough.π¦β There were lots of obstacles for us to overcome in order for our department to reach the top. πββοΈποΈππ§ββοΈ
.
ππ The biggest achievement for me was when our Malaysian Women emerged as the Swiss Open champions the very first time. π²πΎπ₯π₯ So, it was a great achievement not only for Pearly/Thinaah but also a huge moment in my coaching career. ππ»π€ I am grateful and so happy for them because finally, they achieved their lifelong dream as champions. π The win was a major milestone for us because all players started to believe they can make it to the π of the podium. π§ββοΈβ€οΈβπ₯π₯ This was well worth our sacrifices in blood, sweat, and tears. π―π¦ They displayed a high inner desire to succeed which drives them to their best effort every time they were on the court. π₯π₯π₯π₯ For me, no matter what it is that ignites the drive to win, whether it is the roar from the crowd, the glint of the gold medal, nothing beats the hunger to win. β οΈπ― π π― For the urge for success must first come from within. In one of our conversations with the players, they told me they appreciate all the experiences representing the country π²πΎπ²πΎ because they get to chase their goals and the dreams π₯
πΈ which fuel their flames of ambition. β½π₯ποΈπ This was very emotional for me as it meant a lot to hear it from the players themselves. πβΊοΈ

ππ It was an incredible experience, and I would like to thank everyone who has helped me grow along the way, especially my leaders for the guidance and opportunities. ππ»ππ» I also thank my teams, the players, and my colleagues for your commitment, energy, and determination, allowing me to embrace such a challenging, fun, and rewarding career. π€πβ€οΈβπ₯π€

I will always stand proud having been part of BAM as a Malaysian National Badminton coach. π²πΎπΈπΈ BAM will always hold a special place in my heart (both as a player and a coach). ππIβm excited to see greater heights achieved by the players in 2022 and many more years to come. π₯π₯π₯π₯πππ
