Malaysian badminton has struggled to gain any traction in the badminton world after Lee Chong Wei was provisionally suspended Badminton World Federation (BWF). In the absence of Lee Chong Wei, and after Chong Wei Feng pulled out through injury, BAM will not be fielding a men’s singles player for the first time at the 2015  All-England in more than four decades.

Morten Frost who will arrive at Kuala Lumpur on Friday has been entrusted with the responsibility of making Malaysia one of the top three badminton nations by 2020.

Frost was also tasked to determine the fate of several Malaysian coaches including Tey Seu Bock, Rosman Razak, Pang Cheh Chang, Jeremy Gan and Wong Tat Meng whose contracts have been temporarily extended until March.

When asked about the timing of Morten Frost’s arrival, deputy vice president of BAM Dato Norza Zakaria chose not comment on that.

“I cannot confirm the when Frost will arrive, because he arranges his own travel plan. I can only confirm he will report to BAM next Monday,” said Dato Norza.

Meanwhile, Lee Chong Wei hoped Morten Frost could bring change to Malaysian badminton that in a desperate need of a new direction.

“I will meet him and will discuss with him about my future on Monday,” said Chong Wei.

“He is in good position to rejuvenate the sport of badminton in Malaysia,” added Chong Wei.
