Germany: The Malaysian women’s doubles pair Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei opened their campaign in the quarter-finals of German Open on Friday with commanding performance that left their Korean opponents fourth seeds Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan in the dark by winning the match 21-16, 21-7 in 32 minutes.Vivian Hoo (left) and Woon Khe Wei are going strong at the 2015 German Open

Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei will take on Della Destiara Haris/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari of Indonesia on Saturday.

Russian men’s doubles pair Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov pulled off another great upset on Friday when they defeated top seeds Lee Sheng Mu/Tsai Chia Hsin of Taiwan 24-26, 21-15, 21-18 in a three set thriller.

Both men’s singles top seed Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark and reigning women’s singles world champion Carolina Marin cruised to quarter-finals victories with their wins over Japanese Sho Sasaki and Minatsu Mitani of Japan respectively. Jan O Jorgensen will take on Vincent Wong Wing Ki of Hong Kong in the semi-finals, while Carolina Marin will clash with Japan shuttler Sayaka Takahashi on Saturday.
