Copenhagen: Home favorites Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen defeated Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryantra and Ade Yusuf of Indonesia to win the 2015 Copenhagen Masters men’s doubles title on Monday.

The second set was more closely fought, and both pairs kept the crowd entertained with several exciting rallies coupled with “behind the back” shots. Boe/Mogensen eventually got the better of Pankaryantra/Yusuf 21-16 in the second set to take home prize money of $40,000 Danish crown.

In the men’s singles final, World No. 6 Viktor Axelsen has been in sensational form going into the final and the unwavering Dane proved too strong as he defeated 18-year-old compatriot Anders Antonsen 21-10, 21-15 in 40 minutes.

Meanwhile, Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen survived a scare before they ramped up their performance to beat another Danish pair Carsten Mogensen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl 21-19 in the first set of mixed doubles final. The second set was neck and neck before Nielsen/Pedersen fought back from 17-18 deficit to close out the second set with 21-18.

In the women’s doubles final that was held on Sunday, Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl exacted revenge for their first round Malaysia Open loss to Mahadewi Istirani Ni Ketut/Anggia Shitta Awanda by defeating the Indonesia pair 21-10, 21-8 in the Copenhagen Masters women’s doubles final.

Copenhagen Masters is an event which is held every year between Christmas and New Year at Falconer Centre in Frederiksberg, Denmark. Although there were no ranking points at stake, a lot of Danish players like to participate in the event and play in front of the Danish audience.
