New Delhi: Malaysia’s men doubles pairs Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik and Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin both secured spots in the semi-finals of the India Open 2025 (a BWF Super 750 tournament) with stellar performances.
Former world champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik defeated Thailand’s Kittinupong Kedren and Dechapol Puavaranukroh in straight sets, 21-18, 21-18, in the quarterfinal match in New Delhi.

“This straight-sets win gives us confidence and signals that we are returning to our best form. We’re not completely satisfied with our previous performance, but we’re improving with each match and regaining our momentum. Adapting to the conditions here has been crucial, and we’ll make the most of the opportunities in front of us,” Chia told the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
Moving onto the semi-finals, their opponents will be South KOrea’s Kim Wan Ho and Seo Seung Jae who are the reigning Malaysia Open Champions and edged out China’s Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang in an extremely close quarterfinal matchup, 12-21, 22-20, 23-21.
Meanwhile, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin deliver a dominant performance with a convincing 21-11, 21-17 victory over Taiwan’s Lee Fang Chih and Lee Fang Jen in just 33 minutes to advance to the semifinals. They’ll now face India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty for a spot in the finals.
Overall, Malaysia has had an amazing run, with five total pairs competing in tomorrow’s semi-finals following the success of Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik and Goh Szei Fei/Nur Izzuddin. The other three include mixed doubles pairs Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei and Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Lai Jemie, as well as women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan/M. Thinaah.
Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei advanced following a solid 21-16, 21-17 win over Thailand’s Ruttanapak Oupthong and Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat. Now, they’ll face France’s Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue.
Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai Jemie also booked a spot in the semifinals after defeating Taiwan’s Yang Po Hsuan and Hu Ling Fang, 21-11, 21-15. Now, they’ll go against the World No.2 pair of Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin of China.
In women’s doubles with Pearly TAn and M. Thinaah, they continue to succeed by beating Japan’s Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto 21-19, 21-18. Now, they’ll face South Korea’s Kim Hye Jeong/Kong Hee Yong for a spot in the final.
