
Jakarta, Indonesia — World No. 1 men’s doubles duo Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani were forced to dig deep to secure a three-game victory in the opening round of the Indonesia Open 2025, held at the iconic Istora Senayan.

acing the 20th-ranked Taiwanese pair Lee Fang Chih and Lee Fang Jen, the Malaysian top seeds dropped the first game 17-21, looking slightly off-rhythm from the start. However, they bounced back with sharper control and improved coordination in the second game, claiming it 21-17.
The decisive third game saw the 2025 India Open champions take full command, sealing the match with a 21-14 finish after 58 minutes of action-packed badminton.
The hard-fought win extends their record, having last exited in the opening round of a BWF World Tour event back at the Swiss Open in March.
Next up for Goh and Nur Izzuddin is an all-Malaysian clash against fellow countrymen Nur Azriyn Ayub and Tan Wee Kiong, who comfortably dispatched China’s Xie Hao Nan and Zeng Wei Han 21-17, 21-12 in just 32 minutes.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Masters champions Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun made a dominant start to their campaign in Jakarta. The world No. 7 pair needed only 21 minutes to cruise past American duo Chen Zhi Yi and Presley Smith with a commanding 21-6, 21-11 win.
“It’s great to be back at Istora—this court has brought us luck,” said Wei Chong. “We hope to continue performing well throughout the tournament.”
His partner Kai Wun added, “We’re focusing on our own game and not overthinking our opponents’ rankings. It’s about executing key shots and maintaining momentum.”
