
Ningbo – Malaysia’s professional men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani continued their fine run at the 2025 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC), booking a spot in the quarterfinals with a composed performance over Thai duo Kittinupong Kedren and Dechapol Puavaranukroh.
The World No. 2 Malaysians, seeded first in the tournament, played with calm precision to claim a 21-18, 22-20 victory in 46 minutes at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center in China.

Last year’s BAC runners-up, Goh/Izzuddin will face the Chinese pair Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi next in their bid to reach the semifinals.
Aaron Chia–Soh Wooi Yik Cruise Into Quarterfinals
Malaysia’s top-ranked national pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik also advanced without trouble, dismissing India’s Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi in straight sets, 21-15, 21-14.
The former world champions will now face a high-stakes quarterfinal against Indonesia’s elite duo Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto, in what promises to be a blockbuster clash.
It was a tough day for the other Malaysian players:
Justin Hoh lost to Jonatan Christie in the men’s singles second round with 13-21, 19-21 and Goh Jin Wei went down to Supanida Katethong of Thailand 15-21, 16-21 in the women’s singles second round.
Meanwhile, Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, ranked World No. 7, were upset by Taiwan’s Liu Kuang Heng and Yang Poh Han in a three-set battle, 12-21, 21-16, 18-21.
Wan Arif Wan Junaidi and Yap Roy King couldn’t overcome China’s second seeds Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, falling 21-17, 14-21, 11-21.
Women’s Doubles: Olympic Champions Too Strong
Malaysia’s women’s doubles duo Go Pei Kee and Teoh Mei Xing faced an uphill battle against China’s Olympic champions Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan, who showed their dominance with a 21-5, 21-13 win.
Malaysia now pins its hopes on Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin and Aaron Chia–Soh Wooi Yik to carry the national flag deep into the men’s doubles bracket at the BAC 2025.
