Kuala Lumpur: Former Malaysian singles player Yeoh Kay Bin has officially been named the new head coach for Lee Zii Jia.

The announcement was made Dec 25 via Team LZJ’s Twitter platform.

“Please welcome our new Head Coach, Mr. Yeoh Kay Bin.

Kay Bin, a former International for 🇲🇾 brings a wealth of coaching experience both local and abroad.

He joins the team to continue Lee Zii Jia’s progress into the next phase of his career,” the statement read.

Yeoh Kay Bin, 44, replaces Wong Tat Meng, whose contract will end on December 31, 2024.

Wong Tat Meng, 57, has been part of Team LZJ since July 2023. Under his guidance, Lee Zii Jia made significant progress, climbing back into the world’s top 10 rankings and securing a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Yeoh Kay Bin, on the other hand, has an impressive badminton pedigree. He was the runner-up at the 1998 World Junior Championships in Melbourne and earned a bronze medal at the 2007 Asian Championships in Johor Bahru.

The appointment of Yeoh Kay Bin is expected to usher in a new chapter for Lee Zii Jia as he gears up for the 2025 badminton season.
