Bangkok: Li Shifeng, Jonatan Christie, and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting led the withdrawals from the Thailand Open which will be held in Bangkok from May 14 to May 19.

For Team China, in addition to Li Shifeng, He Jiting / Ren Xiangyu, and Weng Hongyang have all announced their withdrawal from the competition.

It is understood that Li Shifeng, He Jiting / Ren Xiangyu, and Weng Hongyang all have different degrees of injuries, leading to their decision to withdraw from the tournament.

Considering the Singapore Open (Super 750) scheduled for late May and the Indonesia Open (Super 1000) in early June, it’s no surprise that players are opting to rest during this period. After all, the 2024 Thailand Badminton Open is just a BWF World Tour Super 500 event in comparison.

Chinese men’s singles team is somewhat weakened with the withdrawal of Li Shifeng while Shi Yuqi not participating.

After the Thomas Cup wraps up, the Thailand Open begins in two weeks. Numerous top players have decided not to participate in the Thailand Open so they can take a break and recover from the tough matches they had during the Thomas Cup. This underscores the importance of making sensible adjustments.
