Paris, France — Malaysia enjoyed an exceptional day at the 2025 French Open as all four of its men’s doubles pairs powered into the quarter-finals on Thursday, marking one of the nation’s best collective performances in recent years on the BWF World Tour.

Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun Overcome England’s Lane/Vendy

Rising stars Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun showed great resilience to rally from a set down and defeat England’s Ben Lane/Sean Vendy 13–21, 21–19, 21–14 in the second round.

Watch highlights of Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun vs. Ben Lane/Sean Vendy in the 2025 French Open second round:

The English duo had gained a reputation as “Malaysian slayers” after eliminating Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik at last week’s Denmark Open and Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub/Tan Wee Kiong in the opening round in Paris.

Man and Tee’s comeback victory not only halted that trend but also earned them a quarter-final clash against world No. 1 Koreans Kim Won Ho/Seo Seung Jae on Friday.

Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin Battle Through Tight Three-Setter

Another thrilling win came from Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin, who survived a scare from Taiwan’s Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po-Hsuan to win 18–21, 23–21, 21–14.
The Malaysians will next face Denmark’s home favorites Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the quarter-finals.

Junaidi Arif/Yap Roy King Continue to Impress

Young duo Junaidi Arif/Yap Roy King continued their solid form, defeating China’s Xie Haonan/Zeng Wei Han 21–12, 21–17 to book their place in the last eight.
They will take on Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in what promises to be an explosive encounter.

Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik Win All-Malaysian Showdown

Top seeds Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik advanced after prevailing over fellow Malaysians Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi 21–10, 24–22 in a hard-fought all-Malaysian clash.
They are set to face Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in the next round.

Women’s Doubles: Pearly/Thinaah Cruise Past Chinese Pair

Malaysia’s leading women’s pair Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan delivered another confident performance, beating Bao Li Jing/Zhang Shu Xian of China 22–20, 21–15 to secure a quarter-final meeting with world No. 1 Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan.

Mixed Doubles: Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei Edge Out Nail-Biter

World No. 3 and reigning world champions Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei showed remarkable composure to reach the quarter-finals, surviving a dramatic three-game battle against Taiwan’s Ye Hong Wei/Nicole Chan.

The Malaysians prevailed 22–20, 17–21, 22–20 in 63 minutes, fighting back from a 15–18 deficit in the decider to complete a sweet revenge victory — avenging their earlier loss to the same opponents at the Singapore Open in May.

“We were exhausted, but mentally we pushed through,” said Chen Tang Jie in a post-match interview with the Badminton World Federation (BWF). “Our form isn’t perfect yet, but we’re learning from the top players and staying focused on consistency.”

Toh Ee Wei added, “Coming back from 15–18 was the turning point. Once we caught up, we knew we could win. The world champion title is behind us now — our focus is on improving with every match.”

Malaysia’s powerful showing — with four men’s doubles, one women’s pair, and one mixed doubles team advancing to the last eight — highlights the country’s growing depth and strength in world badminton.
