Kuala Lumpur – In a strategic move aimed at boosting training efficiency, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has announced a coaching restructure at the Malaysian Badminton Academy (ABM), officially separating coaching responsibilities between doubles and singles disciplines.
Under this new structure:
Rexy Mainaky is appointed as the Director of Doubles Coaching
Kenneth Jonassen takes on the role of Director of Singles Coaching
The decision was revealed by BAM Acting President Datuk V. Subramaniam following an Executive Committee (EXCO) meeting held at ABM.
“Previously, Rexy oversaw all training categories, which was a heavy responsibility. This adjustment allows him to concentrate fully on doubles, his area of expertise,” said Subramaniam.
“Kenneth will now be fully in charge of coaching all men’s and women’s singles players, from junior to senior levels.”
This reshuffle means Rexy will oversee men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, while Jonassen will guide the development of both the men’s and women’s singles squads.
BAM believes this more focused division of labor will not only reduce Rexy’s workload but also enhance the overall quality of training and long-term development across all categories.
“The aim is to deliver more specialized and effective coaching in both departments,” Subramaniam emphasized. “With Rexy’s deep expertise in doubles, this move enables him to dedicate more time and energy to elevating Malaysia’s strength in that discipline.”
