Qingdao: China moved one step closer to their third consecutive Asia Badminton Mixed Team Championship (BAMTC) title after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Japan in the semifinals. The defending champions will now face Indonesia in the final showdown.

Highlights of China vs. Japan in the 2025 BAMTC Semi-finals:

Match Breakdown: A Tight Battle to the Finish

Mixed Doubles: Japan took an early 1-0 lead as World No. 12 Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito defeated Gao Jiaxuan and Wu Mengying 21-15, 21-16.

Women’s Singles: In a battle of two World Junior Champions, China’s 2024 World Junior Champion Xu Wenjing outplayed Japan’s 2022 World Junior Champion Tomoka Miyazaki, securing a 21-16, 21-17 win to level the score at 1-1.

Men’s Singles: Reigning World Junior Champion Hu ZheAn came from behind after dropping the first game, defeating Yushi Tanaka 7-21, 21-17, 21-11, giving China a 2-1 lead.

Women’s Doubles: China fielded Olympic gold medalist Chen Qingchen alongside rising star Wang Tingge, but they fell 16-21, 18-21 to India Open champions Arisa Igarashi/Ayako Sakuramoto, allowing Japan to level the match at 2-2.

Men’s Doubles (Decider): Chen Xujun and Huang Di delivered when it mattered most, overcoming World No. 19 Kenya Mitsuhashi/Hiroki Okamura 20-22, 21-17, 21-15 to clinch the decisive point and send China into the final.

China vs. Indonesia: The Grand Finale
Earlier in the day, Indonesia secured their spot in the final with a 3-1 comeback victory over Thailand, setting up a high-stakes final against China.
