JAKARTA: Malaysia’s top mixed doubles pair, Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei, moved one step closer to their first final of the season after securing a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Indonesia Masters on Friday.
The world number four duo produced another composed performance at Istora Senayan, defeating Singapore–Indonesia pair Terry Hee–Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja 21-16, 21-19 in a 37-minute quarter-final encounter.
Watch highlights from the match below:
The victory marks Chen–Toh’s first semi-final appearance of the season after earlier exits at the Malaysia Open and India Open.
However, the reigning world champions face a stern test in the semi-finals, where they are scheduled to take on China’s world number two pair, Jiang Zhen Bang–Wei Ya Xin. The Malaysians trail 2–5 in the overall head-to-head and have lost their last two encounters, including at the BWF World Tour Finals last month.
In women’s doubles, Malaysia’s top-ranked pair Pearly Tan–Thinaah Muralitharan also advanced to the semi-finals with an emphatic straight-games win.
The tournament’s top seeds needed just 29 minutes to overcome South Korea’s Kim Yu Jung–Lee Yu Lim 21-15, 21-9, continuing their strong momentum following a semi-final finish at last week’s India Open.
Pearly and Thinaah will now face Indonesia’s home favourites Lanny Tria Mayasari–Apriyani Rahayu for a place in the final.
Meanwhile, men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin Rumsani lived up to expectations by booking their semi-final spot with a dominant display.
The world number nine duo brushed aside South Korea’s Song Hyun Cho–Lee Jong Min 21-17, 21-13 in just 34 minutes at Istora Senayan.
This marks their third semi-final appearance in their last five World Tour tournaments, following back-to-back semi-final finishes at the Kumamoto Masters and Australia Open at the end of the 2025 season.
Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin will next face Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard–Mads Vestergaard for a place in the final.
