JAKARTA: Malaysia’s professional men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin Rumsani continued their impressive run at the 2026 Indonesia Masters by booking a place in the quarter-finals after overcoming a stern challenge on Thursday.

The world number nine duo were forced to dig deep before defeating Taiwan’s Liu Kuang Heng–Yang Po Han 17-21, 21-14, 21-16 in a 53-minute second-round encounter at the iconic Istora Senayan.

Watch highlights from the match below:

After dropping the opening game, Goh and Nur Izzuddin regrouped effectively, raising their tempo and tightening their defensive structure to wrest control of the match in the second and third games.

The victory extended their perfect head-to-head record against the Taiwanese pair, marking their fourth consecutive win over Liu and Yang across all competitions.

Next up, Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin will face South Korea’s Song Hyun Cho–Lee Jong Min in the quarter-finals. The Korean pair advanced after dispatching England’s Ben Lane–Sean Vendy 21-16, 21-15 in just 33 minutes.

Malaysia’s campaign in men’s doubles continued to gather momentum as
Man Wei Chong–Tee Kai Wun also secured a quarter-final berth.

The pair overcame India’s Hariharan Amsakarunan–M R Arjun in straight games to set up a clash with Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama–Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani for a place in the semi-finals.

In women’s doubles, national top pair Pearly Tan–Thinaah Muralitharan advanced without difficulty after brushing aside Taiwan’s Lin Xiao Min–Wang Yu Qiao.

The world number two duo were in complete control throughout the match, registering a comfortable 21-13, 21-12 victory in 48 minutes at Istora Senayan.

Pearly and Thinaah will now await the winner of the quarter-final showdown involving South Korea’s Kim Yu Jung–Lee Yu Lim.

Meanwhile, men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia bowed out in the second round but remained encouraged by positives from his Indonesia Masters campaign.

The former All England champion, currently ranked 103rd in the world, was defeated by Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul 21-15, 17-21, 8-21 in a 57-minute contest.

The Indonesia Masters marked Lee’s third consecutive tournament of the season following early exits at the Malaysia Open and India Open. Despite the setback, the 28-year-old indicated that the matches have provided valuable momentum as he continues his return from injury.

With multiple Malaysian pairs still in contention, the 2026 Indonesia Masters remains a promising stage for further breakthroughs as the tournament heads into the quarter-final rounds.
