Jakarta: Indonesia’s national badminton team has departed for Qingdao, China, on Saturday to compete in the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships (BAMTC).
With high spirits, the Red and White squad is ready to make their mark in the prestigious mixed-team competition, set to take place from February 11 to 16.
A 34-member delegation, consisting of 15 players, five technical coaches, and 14 support staff, left via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, transiting through Singapore before heading to Qingdao.
Determination from Indonesia’s Top Players
Men’s singles player, Alwi Farhan, expressed his pride in being entrusted to represent Indonesia at BAMTC 2025. Despite a short preparation period, he is determined to deliver his best performance.
“I’m honored to be selected for the men’s singles event in this tournament. My goal is to give my absolute best,” Alwi stated in a press release from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Saturday.
He also highlighted that his experience at the 2025 Thailand Masters serves as a valuable foundation to boost his confidence.
“Facing senior players at the Thailand Masters was a key learning experience. It has prepared me to play better here,” he added.
On the women’s singles side, Putri Kusuma Wardani is eager to compete in this team event.
“I’m in great shape, thank God. I’m feeling ready and excited because team tournaments have a different energy,” Putri said.
Strong Preparation and Team Bonding
Women’s singles coach, Nunung Subandoro, emphasized that apart from their exposure at the 2025 Thailand Masters, the Indonesian team also held a training retreat at Situ Lembang from February 3-5. This retreat played a crucial role in improving both discipline and team unity.
“The retreat had a significant impact, especially in terms of discipline. Moreover, it strengthened our team cohesion ahead of this competition,” Nunung explained.
