Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun made history by claiming the Indonesia Masters title, becoming the first Malaysian pair to achieve this feat. Despite their impressive victory, they remain grounded and focused on their journey ahead.

Highlights of Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun vs. Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the 2025 Indonesia Masters finals:

Facing Indonesia’s world No. 4 duo, Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto, in the finals, Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun, ranked 13th globally, were seen as the underdogs. However, they delivered an exceptional performance, securing a straight-sets victory 21-11, 21-19 in just 37 minutes, silencing the roaring crowd at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

When asked if their win sent a message to fellow Malaysian pairs like Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik and Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin, Man Wei Chong emphasized their collective goal as Malaysian players: “We don’t think too much about comparisons. We’re all representing Malaysia and fighting for the same cause.”

The pair’s performance was particularly dominant, exploiting their opponents’ errors and maintaining a fast-paced game. “Our serve returns were crucial today, and we capitalized on every opportunity,” added Kai Wun.

An Unforgettable Final
The final was a display of determination and precision. Despite Fajar and Muhammad Rian’s higher ranking and a 4-0 head-to-head record against Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wunn, the Malaysian pair controlled the match from the outset.

First Set: The Malaysians quickly built a commanding lead, finishing the set 21-11 after a string of unforced errors by the Indonesian duo.

Second Set: Although the home favorites fought back and tied the score at 18-18 and 19-19, critical mistakes at the net handed the victory to Malaysia.

This win came after Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun defeated compatriots Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the semifinals, marking a significant milestone in their journey.
